How Does A Single Mom On Budget Find An Affordable Place To Live In Orange County, Ca?

22 December 2009 256 views 8 Comments

I don’t want to live in a big apartment complex, but I don’t know how to find a little guest house or duplex (or some other small property) for rent. Where does one find this resource?

craigslist.org- you can search and post for a place to live. the person that replied about a realtor has obviously never been a single mom or around a single mom on a budget. Best of luck to you

Hon I live in Michigan so all I can tell you is if u have a social worker ask her where controlled rent housing is. Otherwise u would have to go to a realtor or the newspapers…You need to find a place where there is controlled rent….Good luck

That is a tall order as prices for rentals in Orange County are over the top. I would suggest that you pick up the local Pennysaver, The Recycler, The Orange County Register and the local newspapers for the less expensive towns. If you are not limited to which town you will be residing in a very good web site to check out the demographics for each community is http://www.city-data.com. It gives you crime stats, income levels, pollution levels, average temps, median ages, employment ops and lots of other very interesting information for every city in the country. Santa Ana is an older city that you might find something like a guest house in. Prices in L. A. county might be a little more reasonable so you might check the local newspapers in the cities bordering OC like Hawaian Gardens, Norwalk, Whittier, Pico Rivera, Long Beach. I am a Realtor but people with these types of units would most likely not be listed with a Realtor.

Craigslist.com is a good place to start. Orange County isnt an affordable place to live in to begin with, you might consider moving to a more affordable area.

Check your local paper. Budget and Orange County really don’t go hand in hand too well.
