4 February 2010 757 views 6 Comments

Im moving from Minneapolis to Dallas in July and was wondering where would be a good place to live? I want to be close or easily acessible to fun and entertainment. I want a reasonable price as I am going to be a teacher. I want someplace I can make friends/love interest possible : )

Either Uptown or Addison would be a great choice. Both have tons of apartment buildings and are full of young singles. Uptown is a more walkable neighborhood than Addison.
Addison is just north of Dallas. There are tons of restaurants, clubs, etc. but you generally have to drive to them. Uptown is a neighborhood on the north side of Dallas. It has many restaurants with outdoor cafes, bars, etc and it’s all walkable. West Village at one end of Uptown has shopping.

    Congrats on moving to Dallas!
Many young professionals move to Uptown (although it could be pricey.. but you could always get a roommate), Addison and Plano. You could try moving near the major universities, like SMU or UTD. I would try to stay within a 15-20 mile radius from the downtown.

I’d suggest moving to Fort Worth. We have a place here called “The Stockyards”, that are full of bars and clubs, and all kinds of shopping. It’s a great city, and there’s less crime than in Dallas.

Uptown would be my first suggestion, but that may be too pricey on a teacher’s salary. If so look in Addison which is just about as good for what you’re looking for.

Where are you going to teach? If near or in Dallas, I would recommend off Greenville Ave. or Uptown. You may need a room mate in these places to afford them.
